Nine Great Ways to Relax on the Gold Coast
Anytime is the right time for a relaxing holiday. Why not stay at Capricornia Apartments at Broadbeach on the Gold Coast? With so much to see, do and experience you’ll be spoilt for choice. Here is Capricornia Apartment’s guide to nine great ways to relax on the Gold Coast.
1 - Explore our wide open beaches
Think Gold Coast, think beaches. Capricornia Apartments are ideally situated just 200 metres from the stunning Kurrawa Beach with its golden sands and sparking blue water. Pack a bag and head to the beach to lose yourself for a few hours. You can sit on a sand dune and watch the waves, take a walk to breathe in the fresh ocean air, collect sea shells or just dip your toes in the water as the waves chase you up the beach. If you feel like a longer walk you can stroll to the other popular Gold Coast beaches including Mermaid Beach, Northcliffe or a little further away, Surfers Paradise Beach. Don’t forget to take your hat, sunglasses, water, a towel and some money. There are plenty of places along the way where you can buy a takeaway coffee or icecream. Perfect!
2 - Enjoy the surf
Holidays are perfect for doing the things you really love. If you love the ocean you can enjoy a swim once or more each day, with the beach so close. Maybe grab one of the Capricornia Apartments complimentary boogie boards and try to catch a wave.
Remember to alesyd swim at the patrolled section of the beach, and always between the red and yellow flags. Gold Coast Life Guards patrol the beach area near Capricornia Apartments.
3 - Enjoy a long walk
For a special experience, take in the beauty of the Gold Coast from the top of Burleigh Head National Park at Burleigh Hill where you will be met with expansive views over Burleigh Heads, the ocean and the Gold Coast. The climb to the top is a little steep at times but is guaranteed to get your heart racing as you walk along a well-established track through cool rainforest and under giant pandanus trees. Alternatively you can take the lower track which skirts along the base of the hill to Tallebudgera. Spend the day exploring the park and its many tracks which will take you to Echo Beach and the Tumgun and Jebbribillum lookouts. If you are lucky you might spot some of the local wildlife including sea eagles, water dragons, dolphins and brush turkeys or even a Humpback Whale during the migratory season, which runs from May to the end of November each year. It’s approximately a 1 ½ hour beach walk or just over 15 minute drive from Capricornia Apartments to the park.
4 - Local gems
You don't need to go far to find amazing walks when staying in Broadbeach. If you'd prefer to stay local, there's a great walk starting behind the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre. Heading north, you'll cross over scenic canal boardwalks before travelling down the Gold Coast Highway to Cascade Gardens and the Kokoda Memorial Walk - sections of the walk pass through tropical rainforest reminiscent of the fetid jungles on the Kokoda Track. Once in the Cascade Gardens there's plenty of open green space to enjoy a picnic or just enjoy the gorgeous surrounds. There's also a good kids playground if you're holidaying with kids.
5- Meet some cute locals
Spend some time wandering around Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary meeting the locals. You’ll meet incredibly cute kangaroos, Tasmanian Devils, koalas, emus and many more amazing Australian native animals. There are awesome shows where you can feed colourful rainbow lorikeets, watch birds of prey fly and other jaw-dropping experiences. If you get hungry there are several restaurants where you can purchase a meal or snack and then eat your meal as you watch the animals from within their enclosures. Located less than 30 minutes from Capricornia Apartments, it’s the perfect way to spend a day. Don’t forget to book.
6 - Be wowed by Springbrook Lookout
With a reputation as the ‘best of all lookouts’, there is no better way to view the Gold Coast Hinterland than from Springbrook Lookout in the Springbrook National Park. It’s about a 45 minute drive from Capricornia Apartments to the lookout, then a short 150 metre walk from the carpark. You won’t be disappointed as you get up close to Antarctic beech trees dating back to the Gondwana Land era and take in stunning views as far away as northern New South Wales and Mount Warning. Take a picnic or pick up some supplies at local farm gates and stores at the small towns you pass along the way. Memories are made of times like these.
7 - Fully self-contained accommodation
There’s nothing better that having space to spread out and relax when on holiday. At Capricornia Apartments you have a choice of two and three bedroom self-contained apartments, each with a fully equipped kitchen, loungeroom, laundry facilities and air-conditioning. Enjoy views of the beach, the Gold Coast Hinterland or the Capricornia pool and gardens from the balcony in your home-away-from-home holiday surrounds. Positioned in the heart of the Gold Coast at Broadbeach you are just minutes to the beach, dining and shopping precinct and a range of activities. Isn’t it time to get away?
