Picnics are great for all occasions. Whether you are looking for a romantic interlude for 2, relaxing with the kids between activities or just hanging out with friends!
Step 1) Choose your Gold Coast Picnic Spot
There’s plenty of venue options to choose from – head to the beach for a picnic by the sea, or a local park where you can set up your spread under the shade of tree. Here’s a few suggestions:
*Broadbeach Beach Picnic – take an umbrella or beach tent for shade and enjoy a day of sun, sand and surf.
*Kurrawa Park – set up under the shade of a tree or make use of the onsite picnic tables.
*Evandale Parklands – located directly behind HOTA in Bundall you’ll find a sand fringed lake with plenty of grassy area to set up and take in the views across the canal to Surfers Paradise.
*Gold Coast Regional Botanic Gardens – explore 31 hectares of gardens including a Rose Garden, Butterfly Garden and Sensory Garden.
*Gold Coast Hinterland – head out for a road trip and explore the beautiful region; such as Natural Bridge or Tamborine Mountain!

Step 2) Choose a time | Picnic Style
The time of day will help set the tone for your picnic.
Breakfast picnic: watch the sunrise while enjoying yummy treats such as croissants, pastries, muffins, breakfast wraps, fruit, juices and coffee.
Lunch picnic: settle in for a whole day outdoors and put on a lunch spread of all your favourite foods. Ideas include; buffalo wings, cold meats, quiche, veggie sticks, cheeses, rolls, salads, and perhaps some pavlova for dessert!
Sunset picnic: the perfect romantic option! Pack your picnic basket with strawberries, antipasto, cheeses, crackers, pate and dips, chocolates and some bubbly of course, then cozy up on your favourite throw and watch the sun go down.
Step 3) Be prepared. Some things to consider packing for your Gold Coast picnic
*Suncream, hats, zinc
*Stay hydrated - pack plenty of water
*Activities such as balls, cricket set, Frisbee, surfboards, swimwear, towels
*Beach umbrella, gazebo or other form of shelter
*Picnic blanket, throw or a few big towels to sit on
